Hello and welcome to this months episode in which Meds and Kell talk over Skype (sorry but it was either that or no show this month) about the classic detective series Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). Made in 1969 and coming in at 26 episodes this series tells the tale of Marty Hopkirk coming back from the dead as a ghost and helping his old partner Jeff Randall solve crimes.

As usual we play the classic theme tune, and a surprise theme at the end of the show. Again apologies for the sound quality but Skype can be a bit hit and miss. Thanks for listening and we’ll see you next month for our May episode.

Two rock bands, both from the UK (kind of) and both with very metal attitudes. Yes its Bad News from TV’s the comic strip and Americas cult classic film This is Spinal Tap coming together in one big old podcast. Both Meds and Kell are big fans of the Comic Strip and also the writing talents of the creators of Spinal Tap and they decided to not just waffle on about one of the films but both of them. The show is packed with musical numbers from both bands and of course your usual waffle on banter.

Another mini waffle for you and in this edition we talk about the lack of sports on terrestrial TV. The BBC has recently lost F1 to Sky Sports, another in a long list of sports standard TV stations have lost to the bigger cable channels. If you can afford Sky then great but a lot of people can;t afford to splash and so are missing out on watching great sports for free. Cricket is lost, the majority of football games are lost and as mentioned F1 is lost but and thank goodness for a but, F1 has been partly saved by a new venture called F1 in Pubs in which Meds attended the Australian race in Birmingham. So join Meds and Kell as they have a chat about what they miss and what could be done for sports on TV.

Waffle On about Shaun of the Dead A Bonus Show with The Anomaly Podcast

Hello and welcome to this very special bonus Halloween episode of Waffle On Podcast in which Meds joins forces with our ‘Sister Show’ The brilliant Anomaly Podcast.

Jen and Angela fight of the zombies and help Meds waffle on about this brilliant British film which stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Also as a special treat there is a comedy sketch at the beginning to get the ball rolling. One word of warning for those who listen with kids this is a podcast about zombies and eating brains, and in this version there are clips that do contain a lot of swearing so please BE WARNED. (The Waffle On version is slightly different to The Anomaly one so please download both podcasts and if you dont want one with cuss words in please listen to The Anomaly episode)

Huge thanks to Jen who did all the hard work in recording this podcast and putting all the levels together and for producing the sketch at the start. YOU ROCK.

Welcome to this months edition of Waffle On Podcast in which Meds and Kell discuss the brilliant Monty Python film Life of Brian. Often touted as the best comedy film ever made (we agree) it also has caused (unfairly) some controversy. Written and starring John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Eric Idle this film tells the story of Brian a Jewish (or is he a Roman) man caught up being mistaken for the Messiah and no matter how many time he tries to convince people he is just a average bloke no one believes hm including Pilate the Roman leader.

We play clips from the film and of course the main title theme and the brilliant end credits ong Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

The duo bring together everything that is great about British and American comedy. We discuss the duo, the odd film and of course we play a couple of clips, the theme tune and right at the end after the promos a treat. The full version of Trail from the lonesome pine.

Waffle On About Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Hello and welcome to the Christmas edition of Waffle On and what better way than to reminisce about a classic feel good Christmas film from John Hughes. Planes, Trains & Automobiles came out in 1987 and is actually a Thanksgiving set film but hey, come on it feels and looks like a Christmas film and as we in England don’t celebrate thanksgiving we class it as a Christmas film. Starring Steve Martin and John Candy in the lead roles this films which is basically a road movie comedy, it is packed with laughs, slapstick and of course feel good moments.

We pack this episode of Waffle On with clips from the film and a couple of songs featured on the soundtrack. Many thanks go to Jen Rhodes from The Anomaly Podcast and Stephen Curtis from Tiny Bronco Productions who sent us mp3 comments about this film

Hello and welcome to the Christmas edition of Waffle On and what better way than to reminisce about a classic feel good Christmas film from John Hughes. Planes, Trains 8 Automobiles came out in 1987 and is actually a Thanksgiving set film but hey, come on it feels and looks like a Christmas film and as we in England don't celebrate thanksgiving we class it as a Christmas film.

As is our norm these days we play a classic song from the film after the promo's so please do listen through and enjoy the brilliant tune.

Finally may we take this moment to say thank you for staying with us in 2010, we cant wait to bring you more Waffle On's in the New Year, so please do have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hello and welcome to this months edition of Waffle On. On this show we talk about the brilliant 1986 comedy Blackadder 2 set during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the first. Written by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton it starred Rowan Atkinson in the title role and was splendidly supported by Stephen Fry, Miranda Richardson, Tim McInnerny, Tony Robinson and Patsy Byrne. The show had guest stars such as Rik Mayall and the wonderful Hugh laurie.

On this episode we are pleased to have back Peter Coleman who last guested on the Political Satire Show, its always a pleasure to Waffle On with Pete and we look forward to having him on the show again very soon.

Waffle On About Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace

Written and Starring Mathew Holness and Richard Ayoade this brilliant comedy series first hit the screens back in 2004. A homage to early (and cheap) 1980’s style action programmes Darkplace is set in a hospital over the very gates of hell in Romford. Holness plays the main character Garth Marenghi the horror writer who in turn plays Dr Rick Dagless in, Ayoade plays Dean Learner as Garths agent who in turn plays Thornton Reed, Matt Berry plays Todd Rivers who then plays Dr Lucien sanchez and Alice Lowe plays Madeline Wool who then plays Dr Liz Asher. Darkplace is a brilliant, quirky programme that benefits from visual gags, mad syncing, out of scene music cues and seriously bad Foley work all done deliberatlye. Its ounds weird and indeed it is but we hope listening to this podcast while make you go and seek it out and enjoy the dark world of Garth Marenghi and his Darkplace.

As is our norm now we have put a special surprise at the end of the episode. So please do listen to the promo’s and then enjoy the song taken from Darkplace called ‘One Track Lover’ performed by Matt Berry as his character in the show ‘Todd Rivers’

Welcome to this special tribute podcast to a fantastic comedian and all round entertainer Sir Norman Wisdom who sadly passed away on the 4th of October 2010. A well loved man who’s career blossomed in the late 50’s and early 60’s. His films were not popular with the critics but loved by the general public. Later in life he took to stage work and stand up comedy drawing great success along with some serious straight roles.

Waffle On About Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Welcome to this months episode of Waffle On. This month we talk about the brilliant 1998 gangster comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. this film launched the directorial career of Guy Ritchie and launched the acting career of Jason Statham. The film has a plethora of British talent including Jason Flemyng, Nick Moran, Dexter Fletcher and Vinnie Jones. It has a brilliant script and we add in some samples from the film for your 9and of course our) enjoyment.

WARNING THIS EDITION HAS SWEAR WORDS IN IT. Yes alas we have to put this warning out because the samples from the film do contain swear words so expect the odd f-bomb and other colourful words. I don’t agree with censoring films or anything really so i wont be bleeping anything out. You have been warned.

BONUS We like to treat you wonderful listeners so keep on listening through the promos and you get a full song from the soundtrack of Lock Stock. We play you Truly Madly Deeply by Skanga a song that was not featured on the USA version of the soundtrack.

Next month is of course Halloween so we will be doing a special Halloween show in the shape of Waffle On about Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace. Comments welcome as usual to waffleonpodcast@gmail.com

Also if you fancy a bit more of Meds’s work head over to http://themartiansarehere.com and check out the brilliant on going story by Stefan Sawynok.

Waffle On About Star Trek The Next Generation.

Star Trek The Next Generation is as weall know an American television programme so why are we waffling on about it. Well Its simple. Once a year Waffle On is going to do a show about a prominent American programme that had a big effect on both Meds and Kell. This year its time for TNG.

Star Trek TNG hit our screens in the mid 1980’s and impressionable young lads that we were (and geeks at heart) we both jumped into the magical world of this brilliant programme. Plus we both quite fancied Tasha Yar and Deanna Troi. The first few series of TNG were a bit crap, and we say that in our own friendly banter way but the other four series were brilliant. This episode is a little bit longer than normal but it is packed with listener mp3’s from Rico, Al, Rick, Kenny, Harry, Jen, Angela, Sue, Sarah and a brilliant email from Katrin so we hope you enjoy it.

As always thanks for listening and make it so.

We as usual ask you love listeners to leave us reviews and comments on itunes and please do listen to the promos at the end of the show which include The Martians Are Here Podcast, Anomaly Podcast, Tin Dog Podcast, Knights of the Guild Podcast, Dirty Boxes Podcast and Take Him With You Podcast.</itunes:summary>

Waffle On about Children’s TV shows Part One

Welcome to this months edition of Waffle On. Here we talk about some children’s television shows that we watched back in the 1970’s. As you will notice that we have put Part One up in the title and that is because we will be doing another one on shows shown in the 1970’s and of course the 1980’s. There are so many kids shows we could have talked about but we whittled this down to some of our favourites. We also have comments from Antony from the scuttercast, Boz from Here Goes Nothing and emails from Dan Vieira and Cherly Hough.

If you loved Mr Ben, Bagpuss, The Flumps and more this show is for you and as always if you don’t know these programmes then stay tuned and hopefully you will find something you like and go search for it.

Brett’s Holmes ran from 1984 to 1994 and for me was the ultimate Holmes sadly the series only ended because of Jeremy’s death. We hope you enjoy this episode, we recorded it on skype but i think it sounds pretty cool.

Hello and Merry Christmas to you all. Its Christmas time and why not settle back and enjoy our Christmas special. On this show Meds talks with Woody (Simon Wood), Ray (David Ray) and Chris (Chris Powell) all about television ad films shown on British television. Obviously because we are enjoying beers and mince pies the whole show goes off on a complete waffle. We’ve carefully edited any swear words but please note we do waffle on pretty quickly.

We also announce our competition winner. Last episode we asked what was Meds and kells combined weight, well the answer was 164kgs and our winner, Katrin from Berlin gave her answer as 163.67kgs so pretty darn close. Here is a picture of our competition winner with her prize of the Stargaxer CD from Rick Moyer ( www.takehimwithyou.com ) and some chocolate from us here at Waffle On which you can buy from ( www.williescarcao.com )

Join Meds and kell as they waffle on about this classic TV show, its almost been forgotten except from those kids born in the late sixties to the early seventies. Its a great concept for a show and when you look back at it the word fun comes to mind.
There is also a competition on this episode, yes good people.
The basics of Pet are a group of our of work builders head to Germany to seek work, here we see them get into all kind of situations some good, and many involving the character of Oz brilliantly played by the awesome Jimmy Nail. There was only four series of Auf Wiederdehen, Pet and because of the sad loss of Pat Roach i very much doubt we will see these characters on our television screens again.

Enjoy.

We’d just like to thank Arthur Vasey Robbo1510, Eamon, Dangelus and Crystal who both sent us nice comments over the past months. And a big shout out to Rick Moyer, and Peter Foltz who all contributed to Waffle On, we shall shout you on our next recording.

Apologies for the clicking sounds you may hear during this episode. We recorded this two months ago before i became a dad and we think it was the old battery lead causing the odd click in recording. We have a new lead so all is well. Thanks

Fawlty Towers

Join Meds and Kell as they talk about this fabulous British Comedy Fawlty Towers. Written and performed by John Cleese and Connie Booth, Fawlty Towers is now over 34 years old and still going strong. Only two series were made and its a formula that comedians such as Ricky Gervais have taken upon themselves to keep their own comedy fresh. Also starring Andrew Sachs and Prunella Scales the team created a wonderful programme that has never been beaten.

The premise of the show is centred around Basil Fawlty played by Cleese a hotel owner who is dominated by his wife Sybil and has an amazing disregard for anyone who is below what he classes as ‘the best class’. A fantastic comedy that is worth not only hearing about here but must be viewed to get the ultimate pleasure of Cleese and Booths writing.

Welcome to the Gerry Anderson special. On this episode Meds and Kell go through Andersons back catalogue giving a synopsis and the occasional theme tune to each programme that Anderson produced. Many thanks go to Rob Scalise who provided us with a remix of our Waffle On theme theme and provided us with a comment (oh and Derek Meddings and I just share a surname, we think ). You can find more about Robs musical work at http://startrack.goldenmediastudios.com he’s done some soundtrack work there. Also big thanks go our to Rick Moyer from Take Him With You podcast who kindly threw some coins into the waffle on treasure chest and to Ian Wilson from For Your Ears Only podcast who sent us in a great comment regarding the state of British TV.

One small note we recorded this episode ouside the Waffle On studios and so we have a couple small jumps (you may not even notice but we’re honest here) in the recording thanks goes to the typical British weather and the thunderstorm that happened while recording. Hope you enjoy it and please remember to send your comments in to either this site or our email at waffleonpodcast@googlemail.com

Star Wars In the Shadows. On this special mini waffle on i talk about a fantastic new audio drama coming out soon called Star wars in The Shadows, it is written, directed and produced by Dany Pépin (37y/o) a French-Canadian born in Quebec, now living in Ottawa, Ontario. SWITS is Dany’s first original story of any type in his second language (English) and only second audio drama project following the surprising adaptation of Karen Traviss’ short story Omega Squad: Targets. Dany was mostly known in Star Wars fandom by his implication in the French community and his Star Wars radio show Star Wars en Direct, both in French (since 2001) and English (2003-2006). SWITS is a classic Star Wars space opera not unlike “A New Hope”. I would describe it as a light fugitive/adventure type of story with some mature theme inserted within. SWITS has obviously been inspired by the Star Wars movies but also its Expanded Universe (EU) like the media giant Shadows of the Empire and The Force Unleashed. There are many small EU references that will appeal to the fans of the genre, but most importantly the participation of Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Xizor, Guri and Mon Mothma in the actual story plot. head to www.creativeaudioscape.com for more info.

John Ryan.

Cartoonist John Ryan, creator of the Captain Pugwash TV series, has died in hospital in Rye, East Sussex, aged 88. The BBC commissioned the first series in 1957 after spotting potential in Ryan’s books about the tales of Pugwash and his nemesis Cut Throat Jake. His agent, Jane Gregory, said there was “a huge amount of love” for the childish pirate and his shipmates, who included Tom the Cabin Boy and Willy. Captain Horatio Pugwash was created in 1950 while Ryan was an art teacher at Harrow School, shortly after he got married to fellow artist Priscilla. It was published, in the same year, in the first edition of the Eagle comic. A book deal followed, before it was adapted for TV by the BBC in 1957, with black-and-white episodes being made until 1967. Colour episodes were shown on the BBC in a mid-1970s revival. Ms Gregory told BBC News he was “always enthusiastic, always charming”. “A lot of the character of Captain Pugwash was John, which is probably why we loved him as much. We devote this mini waffle on to the memory of John Ryan.

Dr Who hit our screens in 1963 and stayed there until 1986. A brief return in 1996 failed to relight its gentle flame. Then in 2005 it hit the screens with a huge bang and has been consistent with its ratings and enthusiasm. On this episode of Waffle on the boys go back to their childhood and recall what Dr Who means to them. Its a long episode notching just under two hours in time but you cant put 46 years of television gold in a one hour podcast. Thanks to Mike Featherstone and Mark Daniels for their contributions and once again thanks to Phil Hayes for joining us on the show.

Porridge

Written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais Porridge notched up 18 episodes, two Christmas specials and a film and never have a bad patch. Starting with the pilot ‘Prisoner and Escort’ in April 1973 Porridge boosted character actor Ronnie Barker out of the role of sketch comedian and into the world as a serious comedy actor. Joined by the talents of Richard Beckinsale, Fulton Mackay and Brian Wilde Porridge entertained the British public for four years.

Set in the fictional Slade prison in Cumberland Norman Stanley Fletcher is sentenced to five years. He is joined by first time criminal Leonard Godber and the two are paired off together in a cell much to Fletchers annoyance. Slowly the two become good friends and Godber learns that little victories are what can keep a man sane in prison. Keeping an eye on the inmates is ex drill sergeant Mr Mackay who rules the block with a rod of iron. Second to Mackay is the ever pondering Mr Barrowclough who Fletcher easily wraps round his finger.

Join Meds and Kell for an hour long chat all about this classic 70’s comedy, and listen at the end of the podcast for some promos of other podcasts that you may find interesting.
